NJ Man Charged with Shoplifting from Nike Factory Store in Rehoboth Beach

A New Jersey man has been extradited to Delaware after he was identified as a suspect in a felony shoplifting at the Nike Factory store in the Bayside Outlet in Rehoboth Beach on May 31st. Delaware State Police say two men entered the store and hid 28 pairs of shoes inside two shopping bags – and left the store without paying. The same pair returned on June 29th and walked out with 9 additional pairs of sneakers. Through surveillance video and images, police identified 22 year old Maicol Matias-Peña of Bridgeton, NJ.

Matias-Peña was arrested by New Jersey State Police on July 15. He was extradited to Delaware on July 27 and taken to Troop 7, where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Shoplifting Over $1,500 (Felony)
  • Shoplifting Under $1,500
  • Organized Retail Crime

Matias-Peña was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and released on $2,000 unsecured bond.
