New Women’s Veterans Memorial to be Dedicated Saturday at Leg Hall in Dover

A new monument will be unveiled on Saturday on the grounds of Legislative Hall (Legislative Ave & Martin Luther King Blvd North).  A dedication ceremony will begin at noon.  The monument honors women who have served in the military or in support of military efforts and will pay tribute to Delaware women, both known and unknown, who have come forward to protect and defend Delaware and the US in military and naval service and in supporting services – both military and civilian.  At 10am, there will be a parade through downtown Dover.  98 year old Lewes resident – and US Navy veteran, Ellen Schaffer, will serve as the grand master of the parade.
