Multi-Agency Crime Blitz Nets 72 Arrests

A multi-agency operation conducted in the New Castle area Thursday has resulted in the arrest of 72 people on criminal charges. Delaware State Police say the eight-hour crime blitz focused on the areas of New Castle Avenue, Route 13, the South Market Street area and the Route 40 corridor. Police arrested 37 people for a criminal charge or outstanding warrants – clearing 106 active warrants and 79 traffic arrests include 1 DUI and 27 criminal arrests. Police seized over 2000 grams of marijuana, 693 grams of heroin, 55 Schedule II pills, a small amount of cocaine, assorted drug paraphernalia and over $3400 in suspected drug proceeds. Police also seized a 9mm Glock firearm.
