Mountaire Fire Causes $500,000 Damage

A malfunction in a power transformer is the cause of a fire at the Mountaire Poultry Plant in Selbyville Monday afternoon.聽 The plant was in operation when the fire broke out and all employees were evacuated safely.聽 Firefighters found heavy fire showing from a third floor outside area of the plant facing Railroad Avenue.聽 Fire crews from throughout lower Sussex County and Bishopville helped to battle the fire.聽 Damage is estimated at $500,000.
