More Jobs in January, but Sussex Unemployment Increased

There were over 14,000 more jobs in Delaware in January than a year ago – and 2300 more jobs than in December! Delaware’s unemployment rate held steady at 4.6% – while the national unemployment rate dropped a tenth of a percent to 3.4%. In Sussex County – the unemployment rate increased from 4.5% in December to 5% in January. The Trade, Transportation and & Utilities sector saw the most job growth from January 2022 to 2023 with 4000 new jobs – followed by Professional & Business Services and Financial Activities Industries at 2400 and 2200 new jobs.
