Millsboro man arrested on assault charges
A Millsboro man was arrested on assault charges after he attacked and injured his girlfriend’s father.
According to the Delaware State Police Department, the incident occurred around 10:15 p.m., Thursday when 39-year-old Omar S. Ruiz engaged in a physical altercation with his girlfriend鈥檚 48-year-old father at a home in the 27000 block of Willow Lane in Millsboro.
During the altercation, two children, ages one and eleven were present.
The victim was able to leave the residence and went to a neighbor鈥檚 where he called police.
Troopers made contact with the victim who had visible injuries to his face. He was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Ruiz was taken into custody at his home on Willow Lane without incident and transported back to Troop 4 where he was charged with Assault Second Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (2 counts). He was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $12,000 cash only bond.
