Millsboro man announces run for U.S. Senate
An entrepreneur and consultant from Millsboro has announced a run for U.S. Senate.
Mark Turley, president and owner of Projected Energy, a renewable energy marketing and consulting firm, filed with the Department of Elections last week to run as a candidate with the Independent Party for the seat currently held by U.S. Senator Chris Coons (D-DE).
Turley, also a business representative for various manufacturing companies, says he’s contemplated a run for the past year but was led to officially file after bitter partisanship in Congress got to the point where he couldn’t take it anymore.
“I really felt that both houses, Senate and the House, were so disjointed,” Turley said. “There’s so much controversy. Both sides of the aisle can’t work together and it’s been that way for a long time, but it’s getting worse and worse.”
With a goal of simplifying federal government, Turley said he is in the process of contacting sitting U.S. Senators and Representatives who share his goal improving state government processes.
“The system is broke,” he concluded.
Turley is currently the only candidate to run for the seat currently held by Sen. Chris Coons.
