Milford man charged with kidnapping, assault

A Milford man was arrested on kidnapping and assault charges after police say he strangled a person and held them against their will.

According to the Milford Police Department, the incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. Thursday, September 19 as officers were notified of an assault victim at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover, Delaware.

Detectives responded to the hospital where they met and interviewed the victim, who was assaulted by a suspect at a residence in the unit block of Cedar Beach Road in Milford.

The incident occurred sometime in the overnight hours between Wednesday, Sept. 18 and Thursday, Sept. 19. The victim disclosed to detectives that they had been strangled and struck multiple times by the suspect throughout the evening.

The victim said the suspect allowed them to leave in the morning for work, at which time they responded to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital. Prior to that time, the suspect refused to let the victim leave the residence, according to police.

Detectives learned that the victim sustained physical injuries as a result of the assault and was treated and released from Bayhealth after the interview.

Warrants were issued for the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Enrico B. Giangiacomo, of Milford. On Thursday, Sept. 19, around 7:45 p.m., he turned himself into Milford Police Department on the outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Giangiacomo was charged with Kidnapping 2nd Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Strangulation, and Terroristic Threatening. He was committed to the Department of Correction in default of $30,000 cash bail only.

A no contact order was put into place between Giangiacomo and the victim.
