UPDATED – 04/01/25 – The deceased humpback whale found in the Indian River Bay yesterday now has a line attached to it so that it can be towed to shore later this week. MERR volunteers battled high winds and greater than usual water depths to attach the line – with help from Delaware Natural Resources Police.

MERR officials have little information – but responded Monday to a sub-adult humpback whale that was in the Indian River Bay. Officials say its about 35-feet in length. They plan to tow and land the whale on the beach so that a necropsy can be performed on Tuesday so that they can determine more about the whale and what happened to it.
