Massachusetts Driver Charged with DUI & Vehicular Assault in Georgetown Crash
A Massachusetts man is charged with multiple counts of vehicular assault after a crash Saturday evening in the area of Deer Forest Road and Route 113 north of Georgetown. Delaware State Police say an Explorer driven by a 26 year old Ellendale man was stopped for a red light on Route 113 when he was rear-ended by a pickup truck driven by 29 year old Ryan Loughman of Massachusetts. The Explorer ended up on its side in the median – the driver was treated for minor injuries – a 6 year old passenger was taken to A-I DuPont Hospital for Children with serious injuries. Loughman was not injured but a 7 year old passenger in his truck was treated for minor injuries. Police found Loughman was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash – he is charged with DUI, 1st degree vehicular assault, 2 counts of 3rd degree vehicular assault and other offenses. He was released on an unsecured bail.
