Local chicken producer accused of operating as part of cartel. Two of the largest food distributors in the nation, US Foods and Sysco Corporation, filed a lawsuit in federal court this week, accusing Perdue Farms and other national chicken producers of colluding to keep chicken prices high. They allege Perdue along with Tyson and 9 other companies agreed to reduce their breeder flocks in a coordinated manner to inflate broiler prices. Spokesman for Perdue Farms tells WGMD the company does not comment on pending litigation.
