Lincoln Man Charged with Weapons Offenses Following Officer-involved Shooting
Delaware State Police were called for a domestic incident Sunday around 8pm. Witnesses say 49 year old Kenneth Fisher of Lincoln was armed with a handgun – and was spotted running down Johnson Road as troopers arrived. He was told to stop and show his hands, but Fisher reached into his waistband and one trooper fired a shot that missed Fisher. Fisher threw a handgun to the ground and surrendered.
Fisher was transported to Troop 7, where he was charged with the following crimes:
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Felony)
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
- Resisting Arrest
Fisher was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $21,000 cash bond.
The domestic incident is still being investigated and additional charges are pending. Per Delaware State Police standard operating procedures, the trooper who fired the round, a 6-year veteran of DSP, has been put on administrative leave. An investigation will be conducted regarding the use of force.
