Lewes man arrested on over 40 counts of falsifying business records in Rehoboth Beach
A Lewes man was arrested on over 40 counts of falsifying business records in Rehoboth Beach.
Michael J. Maricle, 48 of Lewes, DE, was arrested on Monday, October 14th for multiple counts of falsifying business records at his place of employment on North First Street in Rehoboth Beach.
According to the Rehoboth Beach Police Department, just before 4 p.m., Monday officers were called to Maricle’s place of employment after a customer returned to the business to investigate a discrepancy between their receipt and the actual amount charged to their bank card.
The manager was able to locate forty-one transactions handled by Maricle between August 28 and October 7, 2019 in which the receipts had been altered.
During the investigation, Maricle admitted to officers to altering receipts. He was charged with forty-one counts of falsifying business records, which are misdemeanors. He was released on $8,200 unsecured bond.
