UPDATED: Lewes Drawbridge Closes Thursday for 2 Weeks
UPDATED 1-27-20 – The drawbridge in Lewes over the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal on Savannah Road will close Thursday, January 30th for two weeks of repair work. DelDOT officials say the work needed requires the full closure of the span – detours will be set up for drivers. For pedestrians a shuttle service will be available – a 15 passenger, ADA-compliant van. The Shuttle will travel between the Fisherman’s Wharf parking area and the 1812 Memorial Park parking lot with departures from Anglers Road on the full and half hour and from 1812 Memorial Park at 15 and 45 minutes of each hour. A shuttle with four-passenger capacity with secured wheel chair will be provided from 11pm until 5am.
Detour Routes:
Motorists traveling eastbound on Savannah Road will turn right onto Kings Highway, turn left on Monroe Avenue, left onto Theodore C. Freeman Highway, then left on Cape Henlopen Drive and left to East Savannah Road.
Motorists traveling westbound from Savannah Road will turn right on Henlopen Drive, then right to Theodore C. Freeman Highway, right onto Kings Highway and continue to Savannah Road.
Detour signage will be posted for motorists.
