While Laurel police responded to a trespassing call, as they tried to arrest two juveniles and 18 year old Jerziah Witherspoon, he began to actively resist arrest and a large crowd began to form.  Additional officers from the State Police and several neighboring towns were called to assist and eventually Witherspoon was taken into custody.  A search turned up 158 baggies of heroin.  Witherspoon faces numerous drug and other offenses – including assault of a police officer and resisting arrest.  He’s being held on a cash only bond.
