Laurel man released following major drug bust

A Laurel man was released after police say he was caught with over 120 bags of heroin, crack cocaine, meth, and other drugs following a month-long drug investigation.

According to the Delaware State Police Dept., around 9:30 a.m., Thursday troopers concluded a month-long drug investigation into the matter of Rickey A. Hawkins Jr. with the execution of a search warrant at his home in Laurel.

With the assistance of Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team (SORT) and members of Troop 5, a search and seizure warrant was executed at Hawkins’ residence in the 28000 block of Seaford Road where police located and seized a large amount of drugs.

The following drugs were seized as a result of the search warrant: 2.17 grams of crack cocaine; 16.88 grams of cocaine; 3.82 grams of methamphetamine; .854 grams of heroin (122 bags), 74.79 grams of marijuana; 11.2 grams of THC wax; Over $20,000 in suspected drug proceeds; Drug Paraphernalia.

Hawkins was located at the Motel 6 in Seaford where he was taken into custody without incident and charged with Possession With Intent To Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 2 Quantity, Possession With Intent To Deliver a Controlled Substance ( 4 counts), Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Hawkins was arraigned and released on $31,000 unsecured bond.
