Laurel Little League Steps Up to the Plate, Helps Tornado Victims
Following the EF2 tornado that ravaged parts of the Laurel and Seaford areas on Monday, Laurel Little League is stepping up to the plate and helping assist first responders and those displaced by the severe weather.
The storms forced the team to cancel it’s games on Monday, but in lieu of taking to the mound, many of the team’s players, coaches and parents donated burgers, hot dogs, drinks and cookies to first responders from the Laurel Fire Department.
Laurel Little League also announced a community clothing drive for those displaced, or who may have lost their belongings in the tornado. Laurel Little League is asking for clothes, shoes, under garments, water, batteries, non-perishable items, gift cards and more. The drive will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Laurel Little League field for the remainder of the week. Supplies may be dropped off at the concessions area.
