Laurel drug investigation yields 2 arrests, 500 bags of heroin

The Laurel Police Department concluded a month long narcotic investigation Thursday resulting in the seizure of more than 500 bags of heroin.

Early Thursday morning Laurel Police officers with the assistance of the Delaware State Police executed a search warrant at 2708 Daniel Street in Carvel Gardens.

Located inside the residence were the targets of the investigation, identified as 18-year-old Stephon McDonald, of Laurel, and 24-year-old Tijere Baldwin, of Bridgeville.

A search of the residence yielded 564 bags of heroin totaling 3.822 grams, 5.37 grams of marijuana, two digital scales, and a loaded .380 caliber Ruger LCP handgun, which was reported stolen.

Packaging material for heroin was also located as a result of the search, according to police.

Baldwin was charged with Possession of a firearm by person prohibited, Possession of ammunition by person prohibited, Possession with intent to deliver Heroin, Receiving a stolen firearm, Two counts of Endangering the welfare of a child, Two counts of Possession of Drug paraphernalia and Civil possession of marijuana.

Baldwin was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of $27,100.00 secure bond.

McDonald was charged with Possession of Heroin in a Tier 3 quantity, Drug Dealing, Two counts of Endangering the welfare of a child, Two counts of Possession of drug paraphernalia and Civil possession of marijuana.

McDonald was arraigned and released on $10,100 unsecured bond.
