Additional Information from Kim Hoey Stevenson:

“The Cape Region is a beautiful place to raise a family, start a business, and to enjoy life after retirement. I look to not only preserve, but enhance the quality of life in the district by promoting a strong education system, a government that levels the playing field rather than picks winners and losers, and protection for the district’s beautiful coastline and open space.”

Kim actively participates in the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women on a global basis. Her work as a journalist has taken her around the globe, with notable coverage in Somalia during Operation Restore Hope, where she wrote about the transition from U.S. to United Nations forces and Delawareans’ contributions to these efforts.

“Having traveled around the globe, I gained a deep appreciation for how fortunate we are to live in the United States of America,” said Kim. “America is a place of opportunity and freedom where people can build better lives for themselves, their families and those who come after. In many ways, the Cape Region is a beautiful and perfect microcosm of our nation’s diversity.”

Former Senator Ernie Lopez represented the 6th Senate District from 2012 until his retirement in 2022. He offered his full endorsement of Kim’s candidacy.

“I have known Kim for many years, not just for her meaningful work in our local schools, but as a friend who listens. Kim understands and values the importance of collaboration and bringing individuals together on a bipartisan basis to address challenges and work towards improvements to our quality of life,” he stated. “I know Kim will put all Cape Region residents first and restore the high level of constituent service and responsiveness that we all miss here locally.”

Kim’s campaign motto is “Putting the Cape Region First”. She is an advocate for lower taxes, strong public safety, and equality for all.

Kim is the former vice-chair of the Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission as well as the Milford Planning and Zoning Commission. She is a volunteer in her church and is a member of the Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild.

Kim resides in Lewes with her husband, Dave. They have seven children and 19 grandchildren.
