Cpl Keith Heacook

The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore has established the Corporal Keith Heacook Memorial Scholarship in honor of the Delmar Police officer who died after being assaulted while on duty. Corporal Heacook responded to a call for a fight in progress in the Delmar area just after 5am on Sunday, April 25, 2021.

He was alone when he reached the residence where he got into a fight with the suspect and was brutally assaulted. Cpl Heacook was treated at the scene and eventually transferred to Baltimore Shock Trauma where he died three days later from his injuries.

Corporal Keith Heacook was 54, a 22-year veteran of the Delmar Police Department – a husband, son, brother and father.

According to the Community Foundation, the endowment will award a scholarship each year to a Delmar High School graduate who seeks a career in public service.
