Juvenile Arrested for Historic School House Fire in Caroline County
The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal says they have charged a Denton juvenile in connection with an historic school house fire that took place on Tuesday, April 16.
The 17-year-old white male from Denton was charged with four offenses including Second Degree Arson, Second Degree Burglary, First Degree Malicious Burning and Malicious Destruction of Property.
Shortly after 10 p.m. on Tuesday, the Denton Volunteer Fire Department 聽responded the the blaze in the 400 block of Lincoln Street after a passerby witnessed the historic school house owned by the Prince Hall Grand Lodge Masons had witnessed the fire. The structure suffered over 100,000 dollars in damage and was extinguished in less than an hour by approximately 40 firefighters. No one suffered any injuries.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office obtained a confession from the suspect and confirmed he lives near the location of the fire. The juvenile was later released to his grandmother without incident.
