James M. Bennett High School Principal Criminally Indicted
According to Maryland Court Records, James M. Bennett High School Principal Amy Eskridge has been criminally indicted for neglecting to report abuse.
This follows a criminal investigation into former Bennett Guidance Counselor Edward Allen Mitchell on rape and child pornography charges. Reports indicate that current James M. Bennett High Assistant Principal Erin Nathan will assume the position of acting principal, replacing Eskridge. Bennett Middle School’s Assistant Principal Vera Reed will assume Nathan’s assistant position in the interim.
You may recall back in January, Eskridge and the school’s Assistant Principal Kimandi Binns were placed on administrative leave, following the charges against Mitchell.
Reports also indicate that Wicomico County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Donna Hanlin has informed students and family members about the news, but stated she cannot comment on the pending legal matters.
The court records show Eskridge was criminally indicted on Monday, and served a court summons on Wednesday.
