Infant Placed into Fostercare after Mom Found Drunk in Rehoboth Hotel Room
This past week, Rehoboth Beach police arrested a woman from Washington, D.C. when she was discovered passed out and extremely intoxicated in a guest room after her distraught infant was found on the balcony.
Police were called to the Breakers Hotel & Suites just after 5 p.m. this past Tuesday after the maintenance man found the 8-month-old infant crying unattended on the second-floor balcony. He discovered the 36-year-old mother passed out inside the hotel room and called the police.
Police Chief Keith Banks said Friday that the mother has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child and was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $1,000 cash. The child was turned over to the Division of Family Services for placement, he added.
