HB 2 – Marijuana Control Act Passes in the House – Awaiting Action in the DE Senate

House Bill 2 is the companion bill to HB 1 – the marijuana bill – which passed in the State House on Tuesday. HB 2 is the Marijuana Control Act, which regulates and taxes marijuana for recreational use – it would create a legal framework to regulate the cultivation, sale and possession of marijuana, and provide opportunities for small businesses to be licensed. The measure has been amended twice since March 2nd and the amended bill was passed in the House Thursday by a 27 to 13 vote with 1 absent. (HB 2 would require a 3/5 vote in each chamber)
The bill is now awaiting action in the Senate Health & Social Services Committee.
