Harbeson Man Arrested for Assaulting Ex-Girlfriend’s Husband in Laurel
Delaware State Police say they have arrested and charged a Harbeson man who broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home and assaulted her husband.
Troopers say they incident took place Wednesday around 4:15 a.m. when they were dispatched to a residence in the 28000 block of Seaford Road in Laurel for a reported burglary. When they arrived, they say the suspect had forced entry into the residence and gotten into a physical altercation with the male occupant.
The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Cameron Connelly of Harbeson. Troopers say he fled the residence after obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash. He was later apprehended a short distance from the home and transported back to DSP Troop 5. Connelly was charged with Second Degree Burglary, Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of Burglar Tools, Third Degree Assault, Theft and Disorderly Conduct.
Troopers say they were able to identify Connelly as the female resident’s ex-boyfriend. Officials say the female resident was in the kitchen when Connelly entered wearing a bandana, later identifying himself. It is unclear whether Connelly planned a robbery or confrontation with his ex-girlfriend.
Connelly was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown on 1,600 dollars secured bond.
