Georgetown Man Sentenced for Abusing His Infant Daughter
February 17, 2019
The Delaware Department of Justice says 25-year-old Eduar Guzman-Cruz of Georgetown will spend a year in prison for abusing his infant daughter, causing serious injuries to her.
Deputy Attorney General Michael Tipton prosecuted the case, which led to Guzman-Cruz pleading guilty to second degree assault and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. The case stems from June 2018, when the suspect took his 3-month-old daughter to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital claiming she was not acting right. Medical examination confirmed the child had brain swelling and bleeding and a fracture to the skull.
A Superior Court judge sentenced Guzman-Cruz to one year in prison followed by three years of probation.
