Georgetown man charged with robbery at Royal Farms
A Georgetown man was arrested after police say he forcibly robbed a man of his wallet at a local Royal Farms.
According to the Georgetown Police Department, officers were called to the Royal Farms on Sunday for a robbery complaint. Officers arrived and learned that the victim was walking out of the store when he was approached by an unknown male who asked the victim for money.
The victim continued walking and when he arrived at his vehicle, the suspect forcibly removed the victim鈥檚 wallet from their pants pocket, according to police. The victim tried to retain his wallet but was overpowered by the suspect.
The suspect then ran from the scene. Utilizing video surveillance, the suspect was identified as 50-year-old Louis Bland, of Georgetown, according to police.
On Monday, officers located the suspect sleeping in the breezeway of a commercial building and he was taken into custody without incident.
Bland was arrested for Robbery 2nd Degree and Trespassing. He was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of $3,000 bond.
