Georgetown Man Arrested for DUI
A Georgetown man has been arrested after he was spotted by a trooper on patrol speeding on Mount Joy Road east of Millsboro Sunday morning just after midnight. Delaware State Police say the trooper then saw the driver, identified as 23 year old Miguel Santos-Chavez of Georgetown, swerve off the road and into the grass after turning onto Hollyville Road. The trooper made a traffic stop and smelled alcohol coming from Santos-Chavez’s breath and detected signs of impairment. As the trooper arrested Santos-Chavez ā he ran into a field and resisted arrest before he was taken into custody.
Santos-Chavez, who initially gave the trooper a false name and birthday during the traffic stop, was taken to Troop 4 and charged with the following crimes:
- Resisting Arrest With Force or Violence (Felony)
- Criminal Impersonation
- Criminal Mischief
- Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol
- Traffic offenses
Santos-Chavez was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $3,100 cash bond.
