Georgetown Company Could Be Impacted By Large-Capacity Magazine Ban
A Delaware bill to outlaw large capacity magazines with more than 17 rounds of ammunition could be amended in the House.
According to Representative Ruth Briggs King, R-Georgetown, she was contacted by the owner of Atlantis Industries Corporation in Georgetown, a maker of firearms components that exceed the proposed cap on magazine size.
Briggs King has filed an amendment to Senate Bill 6 that would exempt a manufacturer from the ban as long as the large-capacity magazines being made are sold outside of Delaware.
“If Senate Bill 6 were to pass unamended, Atlantis Industries and its workforce would be significantly impacted. Without my amendment, there is a realistic and very consequential effect on their company, potentially ending 60 to 100 jobs,” Briggs King said.
“I applaud Rep. Briggs King’s plan to introduce this amendment and to address what could end up being a serious outcome for our economic development efforts in Sussex County,” Sussex County Economic Development Director Bill Pfaff said. “This amendment will go a long way in helping to retain Atlantis Industries in Delaware, preserve the workforce, and maintain their contribution to our tax base.”
