Funding questions surround Berlin Fire Company
April 19, 2018
A report says Berlin’s Fire Department is “not sufficiently funded” for the level of services it provides to the city and Worcester County. It also says the fire company is not accountable for how they allocate funding provided by the county or town.
The report was completed by Matrix Consulting Group, a firm specializing in law enforcement, fire, EMS and emergency communications strategy and analysis.
Berlin Fire Company released a statement saying in part that “some fire company data used in the report is not accurate or needs further clarification… including the organizational chart, financial and billing processes, and response locations.”
