Frederica Man Arrested in Seaford on Assault & Weapons Charges
Delaware State Police have charged a 46-year-old Frederica man with assault and weapons charges following a Saturday afternoon altercation in Seaford.
Troopers say they were dispatched to the area of Middleford Road on Saturday around 4:30 p.m. in reference to reports of an intoxicated subject stumbling in the roadway. Upon arrival, Troopers made contact with the subject and took him into custody without incident. A search of his person recovered. 48 grams of crack-cocaine. He admitted to drinking alcohol and smoking crack-cocaine earlier in the day.
The investigation determined that the suspect was involved in an altercation with two male subjects at a residence in the 9000 block of Middleford Road. The men said they were in their yard when the suspect, who they do not know approached them saying he was looking for his sister. He then proceeded to enter the residence, uninvited and was confronted by the men. The suspect punched them several times, causing retaliation. The suspect then produced a box-cutter before fleeing.
46-year-old Ronelle Jones was identified as the suspect who was later charged with Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony, 2 counts of Aggravated Menacing, Third Degree Assault, First Degree Criminal Trespass and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Jones was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of 74,500 dollars secured bail.
