UPDATED: Frankford woman killed in serious crash near Millsboro

UPDATED 10/12/19 – 9am – Delaware State Police have released the name of the woman who died. She is 61 year old Penny Lewis of Frankford. The investigation into the crash is continuing.

A Frankford woman has died following a serious crash near Millsboro.

According to the Delaware State Police Department, the crash occurred just before 4 p.m., Thursday as a 2008 Ford F150 was traveling eastbound on Daisey Road approaching a moderate right curve.

For unknown reasons, the driver of the F150 failed to negotiate the curve, causing the vehicle to cross over the centerline into the opposite travel lane and off the edge of the roadway.

After exiting the roadway, the truck continued traveling in an easterly direction where the front struck a standing tree.

The driver, a 61-year-old Frankford woman, was transported to Penninsula Regional Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries. Her name is being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin.

Daisey Road in the area of Sand Hill Lane was closed for approximately 3.5 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
