Flu is Now Confirmed Statewide in Delaware
The flu is now statewide in Delaware. The first case was recorded in New Castle County last week. This week brings the first laboratory confirmed cases of the flu in Kent and Sussex Counties. Delaware Public Health officials say the Sussex County case is a 7 year old boy. In Kent County it’s a 26 year old woman. With cases of the flu now confirmed statewide, Health officials urge you not to delay getting a flu vaccine, which protects not only you – but your children, other family members and those you work and associate with.
During the 2018-2019 flu season there were 6387 laboratory-confirmed flu cases in Delaware – with over 1000 people hospitalized due to the flu and 24 who died from flu complications.
