First Sussex County TIGER Grant for Georgetown Area Road Work on Route 9

DelDOT and state officials unveiled a first for Sussex County – a TIGER Grant for an intersection upgrade on Route 9 east of Georgetown.  The $7-million Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant to DelDOT will be used for upgrades to the Route 9, Airport and Sand Hill Roads intersection.  Besides a much needed realignment of the roads, the Georgetown East Gateway Improvements Project will also include additional turn lanes, signal improvements, pavement resurfacing, bike lanes, sidewalks and crosswalks, transit stops, and lighting improvements.  A public workshop has been scheduled for Monday, June 11 from 4 to 7pm it the Sussex Academy cafeteria.
