First DE Flu Deaths in Sussex County
January 8, 2020/
Two Sussex County residents have died from complications of the flu. Public Health officials report a 68 year old woman with influenza A and a 65 year old man infected with influenza B died this week – both also had underlying heath conditions. So far this flu season, there have been 1083 laboratory-confirmed cases of the flu in Delaware – the actual number of cases statewide is likely much higher as not everyone with the flu seeks treatment. There have been 65 people hospitalized with flu-like symptoms since the start of the flu season on October 1st. The last weekly report released at the end of December has the flu widespread throughout Delaware.
