Two fires this week in the Oak Orchard area are under investigation, according to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Fires occurred at adjacent, unoccupied structures in the 32,000-block of Oak Orchard Road Wednesday afternoon and again Thursday. Investigators determined that the fires were deliberately set and were linked to other criminal mischief incidents in the area. The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company responded to both fires and put them out quickly, with mutual aid assisting at the scene. Total damage was estimated at $200.

The Fire Marshal’s Office also says fires also were set at one of the unoccupied structures March 17th and again April 10th. The earlier incidents caused about $50,000 damage.

Anyone with information about the fires is asked to contact the Fire Marshal’s Office Sussex Division at 302-856-5600 or Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333.
