UPDATED: Fire Heavily Damages Building East of Georgetown
UPDATED – 01/08/24 – This fire remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s office. While firefighters were on the scene for about 3 hours early Saturday morning, they were called back to the scene twice for what were likely rekindles – just after 8am and around 6pm on Saturday. Fire officials tell the Talk of Delmarva that the building was a large pole building/garage used for marine flee maintenance. There were no injuries reported during the original call and damage is estimated at $1-million.

ORIGINAL STORY – 1/6/24 – Firefighters were called for a commercial structure fire east of Georgetown early Saturday morning. That fire broke out just after 3am and fire crews from Georgetown and Milton found the structure off Steiner Road fully involved when they arrived on the scene. Multiple fire companies were on the scene or are provided backup. The State Fire Marshal is investigating.
