One man suffered burn injuries and was flown to a hospital for treatment from the scene of a house fire in Milford early Monday.

According to the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Carlisle Fire Company, the fire broke out in the 700-block of Cicada Lane just off Bay Road (Route 1) at about 4:15 a.m. Firefighters encountered heavy fire throughout the residence. The home’s occupant first notified a neighbor about the fire.

The home’s single occupant, a 52-year-old man, was flown to Crozer Burn Center in Upland, Pennsylvania by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit. The man was listed in stable condition.

Damage caused by the fire is estimated at $200,000. The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office was still investigating for the cause of the fire. It took firefighters more than one hour to bring the fire under control.

Carlisle Fire Company said assistance came from Frederica, Houston and South Bowers.
