Fire damages home in Fruitland

Fire officials are investigating a blaze that caused over $40,000 in damages to a home in Fruitland.
According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, the blaze broke out sometime around 8:30 p.m., Friday at a one-story single family home on Poplar Street.
First responders with the Fruitland Fire Department were first to arrive on scene and were able to get the fire under control in about 20 minutes.
The fire is believed to have started from the kitchen.
There were no injuries, but damages are estimated at roughly $45,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
