UPDATED: Juvenile Charged with Arson After Fire at Seaford Family Dollar Store

UPDATED – 8-29-18 – A Seaford juvenile has been arrested for an arson fire at the Seaford Family Dollar on Monday evening. The fire destroyed the building and its contents – damage is estimated at $3-million. A 16 yer old was arrested Wednesday and charged with 1 count of 1st degree arson, 4 counts of 1st degree reckless endangering. He’s been released to a parent on $14,000 unsecured bond. Additional charges may be forthcoming – the investigation is continuing.

UPDATED – 8-28-18聽 2:50pm –聽 The investigation is continuing, but the Delaware State Fire Marshal has determined the blaze at the Seaford Family Dollar Store Monday evening was arson.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal continues to investigate a fire at the Family Dollar Store in Seaford. The fire was reported just after 5pm, and Seaford Fire personnel arriving at the scene found heavy black smoke in the upper half of the single story structure. Seaford firefighters were assisted by multiple fire companies from Delaware and Maryland. One store employee was treated for minor smoke inhalation and released – no other injuries were reported. Damage is listed at $3,000,000.
