Fire at Cadia Healthcare near Long Neck Accidental

A fire Thursday night around 9:30 at Cadia Healthcare Renaissance Rehabilitation Center on Route 24 at Long Neck was accidental according to Delaware State fire investigators. Indian River firefighters arriving at the scene found smoke in the area of the mechanical room and investigation showed the fire occurred in the mechanical room and was caused by an unspecified electrical malfunction at an electrical powerstrip and the fire was contained by the automatic sprinkler system. There was smoke and water intrusion into other building areas.

Damage is estimated at $2500.
