Fatal Head-On Collision Between Two Pickup Trucks in Laurel
Two adult drivers are dead and two girls–ages 12 and 9 are in critical condition following a two-vehicle crash that happened just after 5 p.m. yesterday in the area of Laurel Road west of Goose Nest Road. Police say the driver of one vehicle was headed westbound on Laurel Road while another was going east on Laurel Road in the same area. Police do not yet know why the driver of one of the Chevy Silverado pickup trucks failed to remain in her lane and crossed the center line. The head-on collision then occurred between the two pickup trucks in the eastbound lane.
The driver of the Silverado 1500, identified as 27-year-old Lillyanne Ternahan of Frankford, Delaware, was wearing her seatbelt. The driver of the Silverado 2500, identified as 38-year-old Jamin Pugh of Laurel, Delaware, was not wearing his seatbelt.
Alcohol involvement in this crash is unknown. No other vehicles were involved in this collision. The roadway was closed for approximately four hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
