TICKETS: 11th Annual Black Tie Optional Fundraising Dinner – Dover

TheFriends of Delaware Veterans 11th Annual Black Tie Optional fundraising dinner for the Veterans Trust Fund on Thursday, November 7, from6 to 9 p.m. at Dover’s Modern Maturity Center, will honor a wounded warriorand provide world-class entertainment. 

Wounded Woman Warrior Colonel Laurel “Buff” Burkel, author,mentor and motivational speaker, will serve as keynote speaker. Retired after28 years of service in the  U.S. Air Force, she served as a seniornavigator with more than 2,100 flight hours (including 285 combat and combatsupport hours) in F-4, C-141, and C-130 aircraft, she commanded an operationalC-130 squadron, both at home and deployed, and served in a variety ofleadership positions at the group, wing, major command, Headquarters Air Force,joint, and international levels, including tours in the Republic of SouthKorea, Canada, and Afghanistan. Colonel Burkel retired from the US AirForce in December 2018 after over 27 years of service. 

Countertenor Terry Barber, whoperformed in 2021, has agreed to return by popular request and will performselections from “Music of the Night,” including favorites from histours aimed at celebrating our veterans. He has performed across the globe andwill sing in memory of his grandfather, a WWII Ace. Terry has been asoloist for the Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, London’s Queen ElizabethHall, and Moscow’s Svetlanov Hall, to name a few. His voice can be heard onevery major record label with a range of artists from Madonna to the LondonPhilharmonic. His recording, a re-imagination of songs made famous by the bandQueen’s lead singer, Freddie Mercury, was considered for 8 Grammys. 

Tickets will remain at $100 per seat and include afull-course meal and dessert, world-class entertainment and silent and liveauctions. As always, individual and organizational sponsors are welcomeand will be included in our event program, including sponsorship of an 8-persontable for $1,000, versus eight individual tickets. Registration deadline is Oct. 29, 2024. No tickets will be sold at the door. 

Suggested sponsorship levels include Platinum at$10,000; Gold: $5,000; Silver, $2,500; and individual at $1,200.
