“The Music Man” – Milford

Second Street Players presents the classic American musical Meredith Willson’s The Music Man at the Riverfront Theater, 2 S. Walnut St., Milford. Performances will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Fridays, July 12 & 19; at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Saturdays, July 13 & 20; and at 2:00 p.m. on Sundays, July 14 & 21. Meredith Willson’s The Music Man, with music, book, and lyrics by Meredith Willson, based on a story by Meredith Willson and Franklin Lacey with additional lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Whittman, follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize—this despite the fact he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian, and the rest is musical theater history!
