hannity-promo

Southern Delaware Chorale is preparing for its 2024-25 season and seeks members of all ages who enjoy singing. One does not have to be an accomplished singer to join the Chorale, in fact, many members participated in  school choruses, church choirs or theater. Singers of all abilities find Southern Delaware Chorale to be a fun and rewarding way to renew their interest in singing.

The Chorale is a non-audition, nonprofit community choir. Under the directorship of Sarah Rose of Lewes, DE and Joseph Shortall of Baltimore, MD, singers will be totally immersed in learning quality choral music in a welcoming and fun atmosphere. No need to purchase gowns or tuxedos as the attire is concert black.

Rehearsals are held every Tuesday evening from 6:50 PM – 9:00PM at Georgetown Presbyterian Church, 203 N. Bedford Street in Georgetown. The first rehearsal will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM and will include a potluck dinner with fried chicken, side dishes and desserts. Singers will be able to register and pick up their music for the December 7, 2024 concert. This will be a time to meet the conductors, socialize with other members, and will conclude with a short rehearsal to begin familiarizing yourself with the new music.

The following concerts are planned for the upcoming season:

•  Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 4:00PM “ Light of the World”

•  Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 4:00PM “A Choral Tapestry: Celebrating Black History Month”

•  Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 3:00PM “In Her Own Words: A choral concert featuring works by women composers, lyricists and poets”

All concerts will be held at Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

Members may choose to participate in one, two or all three concerts. The cost for each concert is $75, which includes music. Those who pre-register to participate in all three concerts will benefit from a reduced cost of $200 for the year.

The Chorale will be celebrating its 40th anniversary in December 2025 and is already making plans for a celebratory performance of Handel’s Messiah, which was sung at the group’s inaugural concert in 1985.

Southern Delaware Chorale welcomes anyone who has a passion for singing and the desire to perform with a group under the leadership of two very capable and passionate conductors.
