* REGISTER: PAWS for People Wag & Walk-a-thon – Wherever you are!

PAWS for People, the Newark-based pet therapy nonprofit, will host its 16th annual month-long cumulative WAG & Walkathon between September 19th – October 19th, 2024. Participants can run or walk a marathon, logging the 26.2 miles at their own pace anytime throughout the month individually, with a pet or as a team.

A Month of Exercise, Activity & Fun
This year’s WAG & Walkathon kicks off with a Facebook Live “Step-Off” on Thursday, September
19th. Participants of all ages and locations sign up for this cumulative marathon to support PAWS for People programs and services with pledges from family, friends and neighbors. “Your Miles Bring Smiles” from start to finish. The event wraps up with a “Furry Fall Festival” on October 19th at Delcastle Park in Wilmington, DE from 10AM – 1PM, rain or shine. The Festival features family-friendly fun, entertainment, food, vendors, doggie games and contests.

“We are so grateful to everyone in our community who has embrace the spirit of this unique event.” states Clarice Ritchie, Executive Director, PAWS for People. “It is our largest fundraiser of the year and the proceeds enable us to bring healing pet therapy programs to those who are truly impacted by visit with our amazing therapy pets.”

A Shared Partnership Builds Visibility and Success
Once again, the Kennel Club of Philadelphia’s National Dog Show joins PAWS as the presenting
sponsor of the WAG & Walkathon. In 2023, this partnership raised over $57,000 to support the broad range of PAWS for People Pet Therapy services in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. PAWS for People’s therapy dogs and handlers will also be on the floor at this year’s National Dog Show in November, November 16-17 at Philadelphia’s Expo Center.
