September 30

bill-o

As the crisp fall air descends and the nights get shorter, take on a new challenge with a unique art class at the Rehoboth Art League. Starting October 1, RAL has a variety of art classes in varying mediums available for all types of art enthusiasts.

Barry Koplowitz is leading “Beginner Drawing” on Tuesdays, October 1 & 8 from 6:00-9:30pm. This 2-day course is designed for the enthusiastic beginner who draws from time to time and would like to learn how to draw from photographs.  The basics of how to begin (papers, pencils, markers, charcoal and more) are covered. While this class is geared towards students with little experience drawing, as the instructor works with everyone individually, he can address the needs of more experienced artists in this class as well. This class costs $115 for members and $125 for non-members.

Only have one day to attend a class? Donna Baratta’s “Sutton Slice Polymer Clay Pendants and Earrings” class is perfect for you! Polymer clay is an extremely versatile manmade art clay that is oven-cured to a durable finish. In this class, you will learn to mix colors in polymer clay to create pendants and earrings using a technique called Sutton Slice. This technique provides artists with opportunities to create multicolored patterns using different colors of polymer clay. Baratta’s class takes place on Wednesday, October 2 from 12:30-4:30pm and costs $65 for members and $75 for non-members. In addition to the registration fee, a $25 materials fee will be paid to the instructor.

Interested in a more in-depth painting class? Joe Terrone is teaching “Landscape Painting” on Wednesdays from October 2 to November 6 from 6:00-9:00pm. In this multi-week class, you will learn about the unique techniques you’ll need to know about landscape painting (i.e. Theory of Angles, atmospheric perspective, gradation, diffraction, reflective light, simplification and massing, color and light, composition etc…). Students will work indoors from personal photos and will prepare you to move outside in future classes you might take. This course costs $250 for members and $285 for non-members.

These three highlighted classes are available for students at beginner skill level, 18 years and older. Visit rehobothartleague.org or call 302-227-8408 ex.112 to register. You can also preview the Rehoboth Art League’s full schedule of classes online at rehobothartleague.org/classes.
