* 2025 National Civics Bee – MD’s Eastern Shore

The Worcester CountyChamber of Commerce in Ocean Pines invites Eastern Shore Middle Schoolstudents in grades 6, 7 and 8 to test their civics knowledge – and compete for thenational title in the 2025 National Civics Bee!聽 聽Students from public, private, charter and home schools areinvited to take part in the first-round civics essay competition. The Worcester County Chamber of Commerce in Ocean Pines will host itslocal competition in the spring of 2025. The application opens thisfall.聽聽

After a distinguished panel of judges review the聽essays, the top 20 students will be selected to advance to their local competition: an in-person live event聽featuring two rounds of civics聽 questions followed by a Q&A round to test their civics knowledge. The聽Worcester County聽 Chamber of Commerce in Ocean Pines will host its local competition in the spring of聽2025. The local finalists and top winners will receive various prizes, including prizes worth at least $500 for
the first-place student.

Participants in the National Civics Bee庐 will have the chance to gain recognition for their civics knowledge聽and skills and compete for prestigious prizes throughout the competition. The competition enables聽students to explore issues that matter to their communities, furthering their understanding of civic聽engagement and fostering responsible citizenship. Winners from each of the local competitions across聽Maryland will be invited to take part in the state finals. The first-place winner of the state finals will receive聽a trip to Washington, D.C. to compete for prizes worth at least $50,000 during the national championship in聽the Fall of 2025.

鈥淭his will be the very first time Maryland鈥檚 Eastern Shore middle schoolers will have the聽 opportunity to take聽part in this competition. We are extremely proud to have been selected by the U.S. Chamber of聽Commerce Foundation and look forward to this being an annual thing, said Kerrie Bunting, President of the聽Worcester County Chamber of Commerce in Ocean Pines.
