Electrical Malfunction Leads to Fire that Causes Significant Damage to Building in Dorchester County; Blaze Rekindled Hours Later
UPDATE: The fire that occurred yesterday afternoon close to 2 p.m. at a one story, wood frame pole building in Dorchester County was rekindled last night around 10 p.m. This time, the blaze started in the ceiling void space. The Hurlock Volunteer Fire Department came back after a passerby discovered the fire. The time it took for firefighters to control the rekindled fire was about an hour.

A fire at a one story, wood frame pole building in Dorchester County caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to the structure and $300,000 in losses of contents inside. The fire occurred yesterday afternoon on Milligantown Road in Hurlock. Crews from the Hurlock Volunteer Fire Department fought the blaze about 30 minutes before bringing it under control. An electrical malfunction caused the fire, which started in the interior of the wall assembly. No one was present inside the building when the blaze occurred.
