Eden Man Convicted of Attempted 1st Degree Murder

An Eden man has been found guilty of attempted 1^st degree murder and weapons offenses.  Prosecutors say that in May of 2016 Gregory Sterling attacked a man with a machete – stabbing him 19 times.  Sentencing has been postponed pending the completion of a pre-sentence investigation.  Wicomico County officials say Sterling had been previously found guilty after a jury trial on the same offense but successfully appealed that conviction to the Maryland Court of Special Appeals where he was granted a new trial on the grounds that he was improperly advised of the maximum penalty.
